This Cartoon has been created to show the issue with children being overworked and treated unfairly in the work place. The artist that drew this showed a big man with a giant mouth open with a child climbing up the giant ladder near his mouth. The giant ladder that the child is on shows the danger of the work place. The giant man in a nice suit shows that the owner of the factories had all of the money and power over the children in the work place. The intense labor that the children had to do is represented by the buckets the child had to carry all the way up the ladder. Also if you look closely you can see that the child is in raggedy clothing and this represents the fact that the children were not paid well. Overall this cartoon does a very good job of showing what children are put through when there are no child labor laws.
Conclusion:
Muckrakers have helped our country progress and become a better place for everyone to live in. We will no longer have to pay outrageous prices for our oil thanks to Ida. Our children will no longer be put in awful conditions and be expected to work for nothing thanks to the amazing photographer Louis Hines. Also you will no longer worry about being forced to live in filthy tenement houses because there were no living regulations.
